Dr. Leslie went into chiropractic after exploring other fields of health care. She had great results with her chiropractor here in Jacksonville and decided to pursue her education at the same school her doctor attended – Life University. Upon graduation, she was eager to move back to her home town of Jacksonville and begin helping people feel better through chiropractic.
Chiropractic For The Whole Family
We are proud to offer specific and gentle chiropractic care for the whole family. Dr. Leslie has treated patients between the ages of just 4 days old, to those over 100 years old! Everyone can benefit from chiropractic care, especially when it’s specific to the needs of the patient. Dr. Leslie focused on upper cervical care from the start when in graduate school. She takes specific x-rays of the neck to determine the misalignment of the upper two vertebrae, atlas and axis. The adjustment is specific to the patient’s misalignment. Adjustments to the entire spine are performed while in a neutral position and there is no twisting of the neck or back to accomplish the alignment. She practices several gentle and specific techniques which include Upper Cervical Specific, Activator Methods, Sacro-Occipital Technique, and Thompson Drop.
Many types of different problems can be resolved utilizing these techniques. From the baby with colic or reflux to the toddler with constipation or the child with enuresis (bed wetting), the body responds to the adjustments positively and function improves. Most children and adolescents will be in need of care due to falls or injuries during sports. Normal wear and tear from carrying backpacks at school, poor posture while sitting at desks can cause misalignments in the neck and back. All too common in this generation of children and young adults are neck misalignments or pain which can radiate into the shoulders and upper back due to constant neck flexion from reading and spending hours on their devices.
These issues need to be addressed before long-lasting damage occurs in the spine. Adults suffer from pain and symptoms more often than children due to subluxations (misalignment in the spine, resulting in nerve interference). There is a cumulative effect of a lifetime of injuries, poor posture, and subluxations over time. The most common complaints in adults are neck and back pain, radiating pain into the arms and hands, legs and feet. Stiffness with decreased range of motion in either the back or neck are a very common symptom of subluxation. Headaches, ear pain, jaw pain or popping (TMD), interrupted sleep, knee pain, foot pain, wrist pain, digestive problems/constipation, numbness/tingling, dizziness can all be symptoms of misalignment in one or more areas of the spine and have been helped with chiropractic care here.
